CKYC Management: Everything You Need to Know About Central KYC in 2026

Complete guide to Central KYC (CKYC) for financial institutions in India. Understand CERSAI requirements, the CKYC upload process, and how software simplifies compliance.

Central KYC (CKYC): The Complete Guide for Financial Institutions

Central KYC (CKYC) is one of the most significant regulatory simplifications introduced by the Government of India in recent years. For financial institutions — NBFCs, Nidhi companies, banks, and insurance companies — understanding and implementing CKYC correctly is not optional.

What is Central KYC?

The Central KYC Registry is maintained by CERSAI (Central Registry of Securitisation Asset Reconstruction and Security Interest of India) under the Ministry of Finance. The registry stores standardized KYC records of customers, allowing any regulated financial institution to retrieve a customer's KYC from the registry instead of collecting documents afresh.

How CKYC Eliminates Repeated Document Submission

Before CKYC, a customer who had accounts at 5 different financial institutions had to submit their identity proof, address proof, and photograph to each institution separately. With CKYC:

  • Customer submits KYC once to any regulated institution
  • Institution uploads to CKYC registry and receives a unique CKYC number
  • Customer provides their 14-digit CKYC number to all subsequent institutions
  • Institutions retrieve the verified KYC record from CERSAI instantly
  • What Data is Uploaded to CKYC?

    Mandatory CKYC data includes:

  • Customer Name, Father's Name, Mother's Name
  • Date of Birth
  • PAN or Form 60 (for those without PAN)
  • Residential Status (Resident/NRI/PIO)
  • Account Type (Individual/Non-Individual)
  • Proof of Identity (document name, number, expiry date)
  • Proof of Address
  • Complete Address with Pincode, District, State, Country
  • Photograph and document images
  • CKYC Upload Workflow

    Phase 1: Customer Data Capture

All mandatory fields are captured during customer onboarding in your ERP (NBFC Dimensions or Nidhi Dimensions). Documents are scanned and uploaded.

    Phase 2: CERSAI Submission

Data is validated and submitted to CERSAI in the prescribed XML format. The registry processes the submission and returns a CKYC number.

    Phase 3: Record Management

CKYC numbers are stored in the customer master. Future customers who provide their CKYC number trigger automatic retrieval.

How Dimensions CKYC Management Software Helps

Dimensions CKYC Management software automates the entire upload, retrieval, and update process. For customers already using NBFC Dimensions or Nidhi Dimensions, data flows directly to the CKYC module without re-entry.
